Hi, I’m Sonja Scherling, a writer passionate about inspiring children to care for our planet through rhymed and bilingual picture books.

I’ve been planet-conscious since childhood, always imagining creative ways to bring nature into everyday life. My career began in Marketing, where I learned the power of listening—identifying hidden needs and translating them into meaningful action. This skill later shaped my journey into storytelling.

BuildGreens: Bringing Nature into Urban Spaces In 2005, my husband (an architect) and I co-founded BuildGreens, an initiative dedicated to integrating gardens into high-rise buildings and bringing sustainable green spaces into urban living. Our goal was to merge architecture with nature, creating healthier and more eco-friendly environments.

Later, we moved to Patagonia, where I fully embraced a life surrounded by nature. Living near the breathtaking Lanín and Nahuel Huapi National Parks, I deepened my commitment to sustainability, which continues to influence my writing and storytelling today.

In my career as a translator, editor, and project manager, I worked with language and linguistic adaptation daily, refining my ability to craft compelling narratives. But it wasn’t until reading Julia Donaldson’s books for the third time with my youngest child that I realized my true calling—writing stories that spark a love for nature and a sense of responsibility in children.

Today, through my books, and my brand, Rhymed Tales, I aim to awaken wonder, curiosity, and care for our world. I invite you to join me on this journey of exploring, learning, and protecting the beauty of our planet for future generations.
